I always enjoy your articles a lot because I feel they have a great deal of insight. One thing that has always humored me is that bitcoin is this amazing consensus mechanism so that multiple parties can come to an agreement on the state of a database but there is no consensus protocol for updating bitcoin. I think this is one huge advantage the Ethereum team has. A high degree of centralization which determines the core protocol. Ethereum doesn’t even exist yet its just an idea. If it still exists in 5 years I believe that updating the Ethereum protocol will be a far more centralized exercise than updating any specification of the bitcoin protocol. This should effectively erode bitcoin’s first mover advantage as bitcoins protocol becomes more rigid over time till the point where no changes are possible but we will have to wait and see.
